Chelsea are ready to put Tottenham’s resolve to the test with a move for a summer signing who has underperformed this season, while Newcastle are looking for two new forwards following Chris Wood’s move to Nottingham Forest, according to Friday’s Transfer Gossip.
Chelsea are reportedly planning another January transfer blitz, including a surprise raid on London rivals Tottenham Hotspur and a swap proposal.
Noni Madueke, a former Tottenham Hotspur youth player, has joined the Blues in a deal worth up to £29 million.
However, after having a bid to sign Brighton midfielder Moises Caicedo rejected, Graham Potter, according to the Telegraph’s Matt Law, now wants to be reunited with Yves Bissouma at Stamford Bridge.
The 26-year-old has had a hugely disappointing first season in north London after joining from the Seagulls in the summer.
Bissouma was expected to be a key player for Tottenham after establishing himself as one of the best midfielders in England over the previous two seasons.
He has, however, appeared to be a shadow of the player who excelled on the south coast. That is why Potter, who has previously gotten the most out of the Mali international, is hoping to strike.
According to the Telegraph, Chelsea are willing to offer Hakim Ziyech to Spurs in exchange for Bissouma.
Tottenham is unlikely to abandon Bissouma just yet.
Ziyech has previously been a target for Antonio Conte, but Tottenham are unlikely to admit defeat with Bissouma just yet.
They will be hoping that the outstanding midfielder has simply failed to adjust to his new surroundings and will eventually come good.
Chelsea sees Bissouma as the ideal replacement for club legend N’Golo Kante.
Both the French midfielder and Italy’s Jorginho are expected to leave Chelsea this summer.
This will leave a large void in Potter’s engine room, and it appears that Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho wants Bissouma to fill it.
Newcastle United are reportedly considering a new bid for Everton forward Anthony Gordon, as well as a bid for Flamengo teenager Matheus Franca.
With Chris Wood joining Nottingham Forest on loan with an option to buy for £15 million, the Magpies have offered Flamengo £13.5 million for Brazil Under-20s international Franca, 18, and have rekindled their interest in Gordon.
Everton need to sell in order to move forward in the market and bring in new attacking talent, and Tottenham and Chelsea have already expressed interest in Gordon.
However, their £50m+ valuation has so far deterred any potential suitors, though Newcastle could strike at that price.
Gordon was targeted by enraged Toffees fans last week, and with Everton desperate for reinforcements, they may be tempted to sell Gordon.
If Flamengo can secure a loan deal for Manchester United’s Facundo Pellistri, Franca could be on his way to St James’ Park.
Leicester City are reportedly planning another defensive move as Brendan Rodgers looks to bolster his squad before the January transfer window closes.
The Foxes are close to completing a £17 million deal to sign left-back Victor Kristiansen from Copenhagen.
Gianluca Dimarzio, however, claims they are also interested in Stoke’s Australian centre-back Harry Souttar.
Dimarzio claims that Leicester has already turned down an offer of around £10 million, but that talks are still ongoing.
