David Raya: “Every player has goals and wants to improve”

After entering the final 18 months of his contract, David Raya has been heavily linked with a move away from Brentford.
This season, the 27-year-old goalkeeper has appeared in 19 Premier League games for Thomas Frank’s side, keeping six clean sheets. His impressive performances for Brentford have not only helped the club transform into a top-10 side, but have also piqued the interest of a number of top European clubs.
Raya has recently emerged as Tottenham’s long-term replacement for Hugo Lloris, amid renewed speculation about the 36-year-old’s future at Hotspur Way.
The majority of the time, you will be able to see a live demonstration of the latest technology. Jordan Pickford has also been mentioned as a possible replacement for Lloris, but with Everton fighting for survival, a move for the Englishman appears increasingly unlikely.
Raya told the Spanish news outlet AS: “Every player has objectives and wishes to improve.
“Now I’m concentrating on my team, and we’ll see what happens over the summer. If they want to do business, they will have to do it, but there is still a long season ahead of us, and all I care about is doing it well. We will evaluate my situation over the summer.”
Frank has insisted that his shot-stopper is happy at Brentford despite speculation about his future. He stated: “I’ve said many times that I believe he’s one of the best in the league, and he’s done a fantastic job for us, but he’s not going anywhere.
“Let’s see what happens. We’re intrigued. I know David is content here, but there will be ongoing discussions.”
Lloris has been labeled a ‘liability’ for Tottenham as he enters the latter stages of his career. The columnist Chris Sutton wrote a column titled “There is no denying that Lloris has been a fantastic goalkeeper, and there is a lot of pressure that comes with being the person between the sticks.
“But there’s no denying he’s turned into a liability. The rap sheet is so long that you can watch ‘Part One’ of ‘Hugo Lloris’ worst mistakes’ on YouTube before watching ‘Part Two’.
“This history of blunders explains why he bundled Bukayo Saka’s cross into his own goal yesterday. It was entirely in character. While Aaron Ramsdale ensured Arsenal’s victory by saving, clearing, and commanding his way to a clean sheet, Lloris only helped Tottenham lose.”
