More information Tottenham Hotspur have had a busy summer transfer window thus far, and they are also undergoing a revamp behind the scenes, with Jermain Defoe and Yaya Toure reportedly set to join their coaching setup. Antonio Conte wants those who have played at the highest level to work with the young talent at Tottenham Hotspur. According to the Evening Standard, Tottenham legend Defoe is set to join his former club as an academy coach. The former Portsmouth player’s first coaching job in England since retiring earlier this year, after spending time with Rangers. Defoe played for Tottenham twice, scoring 143 goals and cementing himself as an all-time great at the club in 363 appearances during his nine-year stay in north London. However, he will not be the only former Premier League player working in the Spurs academy, as Toure has been offered a full-time position at the club. The former Manchester City midfielder has been working part-time in the academy since December, and the 39-year-old is now set to be assigned his own age group to work with. Toure played 230 league games for City, as well as three years at Barcelona, where he won the Champions League.: Tottenham could demand three Bayern players in a Kane swap. Conte’s squad overhaul is reportedly not yet complete, but the change behind the scenes suggests that he does not want to have to orchestrate reshuffles every summer. Bringing in former professionals who have seen it all at the highest level will provide invaluable knowledge to those aspiring to be Premier League footballers and should improve their overall game. Thus, assuming Conte remains at the club, Spurs may have an increased amount of top talent regularly available for him to drip feed into his squad in the coming years. However, some players are excited about the new look and what the future holds for Tottenham. “We’ve brought in players who we hope will improve us as a squad and make us more competitive throughout the season,” Ben Davies recently told SpursPlay. It will be a very busy schedule around the World Cup, so everyone must contribute. It’s an exciting time, and we’re all looking forward to the season.” Articles Related to Chelsea may be able to recoup some of Koulibaly’s fee as ‘Napoli talks’ begin.
