Tottenham finished their South Korean tour with a 1-1 draw against a spirited Sevilla team. In a blood-and-thunder preseason friendly, the Spanish team fought with bite and aggression and held Antonio Conte’s team in Suwon. While Spurs started the game on top, a tantalising cross from Richarlison was just too heavy for Ryan Sessegnon to touch on the other wing before Son Heung-curling min’s attempt from 20 yards flew wide. After a powerful long-range shot, Harry Kane had the ball in the net, but the goal was disallowed because he was coming back from an offside position. With a bouncing shot from the edge of the penalty box, Papu Gomez forced Hugo Lloris to make a long save at the other end. Son met Sessegnon’s precise cross, giving Spurs their finest opportunity of the first half, but Marko Dmitrovic comfortably stopped his header. Just before halftime, ex-Tottenham striker Erik Lamela hit Lloris’ post with a stunning half-volley, and Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg’s error allowed Rafa Mir to get through on goal, but he only managed to find the side netting. Dejan Kulusevski, a substitute, was picked up by Son on the attack and could have scored immediately after the break, but the Swede missed with his shot. Son soon after maneuvered between two Sevilla players and set up Kane just as he was about to be tackled, and the England captain buried the attempt from 12 yards out to give Tottenham the lead. Oliver Torres was the subject of two challenges from Emerson Royal and Rodrigo Bentancur, and Sevilla was furious when they weren’t given a penalty. However, replays showed that both players appeared to have possession of the ball before the player. Ivan Rakitic’s tremendous goal from 20 yards struck Lloris’ top corner, bringing the Spanish team even. At the other end, Kulusevski nearly gave Spurs a 2-1 lead with a fierce left-footed drive, and Ivan Romero missed a golden opportunity to seal the victory late on after Brandon Austin, the substitute goalkeeper, mishandled a kick. It should be noted that this was a preseason game. Avoid making too many assumptions. Brief summary of this “friendly” / JUNG YEON-JE/Getty Images
