According to Marco Barzaghi, Inter Milan winger Denzel Dumfries’ agent is in London, and Tottenham Hotspur could sign him instead of Pedro Porro right now.
Antonio Conte will be desperate to bring in some new faces this month, especially after his team was defeated 2-0 by bitter rivals Arsenal yesterday. Spurs’ wide areas are lacking in quality, particularly on the right side. This season, both Emerson Royal and Matt Doherty have failed to deliver what is expected of a Conte wing-back.
Tottenham did sign Djed Spence over the summer, but he is increasingly likely to leave on loan after finding opportunities scarce under the Italian.
Of course, Spurs have been linked with Sporting Lisbon midfielder Pedro Porro. According to Rudy Galetti, the Spaniard has already agreed to move to north London, but Sporting are adamant that the player’s release clause be met.
Tottenham may now turn to Dumfries, with the Portuguese club digging in their heels over Porro’s fee.

Tottenham could replace Porro with Dumfries.
Conte, according to Marco Barzaghi, is demanding reinforcements this month, and Porro has been identified as a possible target. However, negotiations with Sporting have been difficult, with Spurs offering around a £31 million fee payable in three instalments. The Portuguese side is demanding full payment for his £40 million release, and a break in negotiations is now possible.
Tottenham have reportedly turned to Dumfries in the “last few hours,” according to the Italian journalist. Rafaela Pimenta, the Dutchman’s agent, is currently in London attempting to reach an agreement, with Chelsea also interested. The Nerazzurri value Dumfries at £44 million, but Tottenham will try to persuade them with an offer worth £26 million to £31 million, which would be slightly less expensive than signing Porro.

Whether it is Porro or Dumfries, one thing is certain: both players would be a significant upgrade over Tottenham’s current options in the position. Dumfries has been described as a ‘amazing’ wing-back, but since returning from the World Cup, he has struggled to regain his previous form. The 26-year-old fits the profile of a Conte wing-back, but Spurs will have to pay a significant fee to bring him in this month.
Tottenham appear to be reconsidering their transfer options once more, despite the fact that it is clear that they require upgrades, particularly at right wing-back.
