According to a report, Bayern Munich have not received an unequivocal ‘no’ from Harry Kane’s representatives regarding a 2023 Tottenham swoop.
Kane has been a fantastic servant for Tottenham since breaking into the first team under Mauricio Pochettino. He went on to score 247 goals in 385 games for the club.
He has also been named England captain and will lead the Three Lions to the World Cup in Qatar.
However, there is still some doubt about Kane’s future at Tottenham. He missed out on a dream move to Manchester City last summer.
Under Antonio Conte, the striker has found new life as Spurs return to the Champions League and look to build on a top-four Premier League finish. But, as he approaches his 29th birthday next week, if silverware continues to elude Tottenham, his desire for silverware will grow.
That is why German champions Bayern Munich are keeping a close eye on Kane’s situation.
The Bundesliga giants were said to consider a move for the striker to Bavaria earlier this month.
According to the German newspaper Bild, Bayern Munich executives have increased their pursuit of Kane by conducting “initial research.”
They have not received an abrupt ‘no’ – or any kind of immediate rejection – from the England star’s camp.
This has made Bayern sit up and take notice of a possible signing of Kane next summer.
However, the German champions are aware that Tottenham want to tie down their star player to a new contract. As a result, they are still treading carefully this summer.
However, Bayern must fill a Robert Lewandowski-sized void at the top. They wanted the Pole to stay, claiming he had a year left on his contract, but he has successfully moved to Barcelona.
The upcoming season is critical for Harry Kane and Tottenham Hotspur.
Kane’s 2022/23 season at Tottenham feels like it will be a watershed moment in his career.
He wanted to leave for City last summer, but Spurs appeased him by bringing in Conte, a former Chelsea player and serial Serie A winner.
Tottenham made tangible progress last season for the first time in a long time.
Spurs have gained some time as a result, with Kane excited to see where Conte can take the team now. Kane will almost certainly stay if Spurs win a trophy or two next season and continue to progress.
If the process stalls, Tottenham may be unable to prevent him from leaving in 2021. Indeed, he will have only one year left on his contract next summer, as opposed to three years last summer.
The length of Conte’s stay at Tottenham is linked to Kane’s future. He prefers quick fixes with intense coaching and serious investment rather than sticking around and building projects.
