Tottenham Hotspur should consider potential offers for Emerson Royal, according to Football.London.
Fabio Paraticci is expected to be very busy in the January transfer window as he looks to help Antonio Conte add depth to the squad. Following that, a few players could be loaned out or sold for a reasonable price to balance the books.
Royal has had a mixed season, with poor showings following strong performances. The right-back has played well defensively but has struggled in the final third, with only one assist in 18 appearances for Spurs this season.
The Sao-Paulo-born talent has failed to impress in the attacking third, averaging 0.8 shots, 0.4 key passes, and 0.7 dribbles in the Premier League so far, but he has decent numbers in the defensive half, averaging 2.0 tackles, 0.8 interceptions, and 1.9 clearances. However, he has been efficient with his ball distribution, completing 82% of his attempted passes in the English Premier League.
Should Conte allow him to leave?
Royal is a solid backline player who can clear his lines when he senses danger from the opposition and can make a few good runs down the left flank to stretch the opposition’s defense. Furthermore, he excels at holding on to the ball and efficiently distributing it, allowing him to play his way out of the back.
However, the 23-year-old has not had a significant impact on the attacking front, and his lack of productivity in the final third could pose a problem for Spurs as they pursue a title.
Conte would be wise to consider potential offers for the Brazil international and bring in a capable replacement rather than relying on him at the right flank. Tottenham will, of course, need to find a suitable replacement in the January transfer window if they want to sell him in the coming months or wait until next summer to assess their options.
