Tottenham are interested in signing Brighton’s Leandro Trossard in January.
Spurs are looking to add one or two players to their squad this window, with the priority being a right wing-back and an attacking player.
Tottenham are interested in signing Leandro Trossard from Brighton. The versatile Trossard, 28, is on their radar for the latter role, but other Premier League clubs, including archrivals Arsenal, are also interested.
The Belgian’s deal with the Seagulls runs out at the end of the season. However, SunSport understands that Albion have the option to extend it by another year if he remains at the club after the January transfer window.
Trossard has seven Premier League goals this season, including a hat-trick against Liverpool in October, but his form has dipped since returning from the World Cup. Brighton manager Roberto De Zerbi chastised him for his work ethic ahead of Saturday’s 5-1 win over Middlesbrough, which he missed due to a calf injury.
Arsenal’s interest in Trossard dates back to before he joined Brighton in 2019 in Genk. Trossard told SunSport exclusively during a pre-season trip to Austria that switching to the Amex was the smart move at the time, which could lead to a bigger move in the future. “The Brighton project is more for me right now,” he said in July 2019. Perhaps in a few years I’ll have another idea, show myself in the Premier League, and we’ll be able to take the next step.”
Brighton have made millions in recent years after selling Ben White to Arsenal, Marc Cucurella to Chelsea, and Yves Bissouma to Tottenham. Meanwhile, Tottenham are big fans of Sporting Lisbon winger Pedro Porro, who was previously with Manchester City, but are unwilling to pay his £36.7 million buy-out clause.
