Chelsea are hoping to add two more impressive players to their squad in the coming days, while a midfielder long linked with Arsenal has been the subject of a £18 million bid from another Premier League club, according to Tuesday’s Transfer Gossip.
SPECTACULAR TRIPLE COUPLE FROM CHELSEA EYEING
Todd Boehly will continue to splash the cash, according to reports, with a Manchester United striker target and a former Tottenham Hotspur attacker both lined up to replace Joao Felix at Stamford Bridge.
The Blues’ struggles in the final third have hampered their season so far. Chelsea has the fewest goals (20) in the top half of the table by a factor of seven. Clearly, if they are to finish in the top four, they will need to add new firepower.
A verbal agreement has been reached with Atletico Madrid to sign Joao Felix on a six-month loan. Both Fabrizio Romano and David Ornstein confirmed the news on Monday, with the former later tweeting that a deal could be completed within the next 24-48 hours.
Chelsea will pay a loan fee of around £9.68 million and have agreed to cover the entirety of Felix’s wages (an additional £5.3 million). Romano previously stated that a buy option had not been discussed.
When the news broke, the Athletic’s Ornstein was quick to point out that “more reinforcements” are expected to follow Felix through the front door soon.
The Blues have been linked with hijacking Arsenal’s move for Mykhaylo Mudryk on numerous occasions. However, given that Felix was also wanted by Arsenal, it stands to reason that they will be even more determined to sign the Ukraine ace.
Furthermore, Mudryk strongly favors a move to the Emirates.
Instead, the Times suggested two different attackers to bolster Graham Potter’s squad: Marcus Thuram and Noni Madueke.
The attack overhaul is currently underway.
Thuram, 25, has been a revelation for Borussia Monchengladbach this season after being given a chance to play centrally for the first time.
Thuram has 13 goals in 17 games for the Bundesliga club. However, his contract is set to expire at the end of the season, so January is their last chance to cash in.
Thuram has also been linked to Manchester United, who have a striker position open. Thuram’s contract status may allow him to leave for as little as £8.5 million, though even that low figure may be too much for United.
Instead, they’re on the trail of Wout Weghorst, and Chelsea has’stepped up’ their efforts to capture Thuram.
Noni Madueke, a former Spurs player, could be the club’s third signing.
The 20-year-old was on Tottenham’s books from 2014 to 2018, but he left for PSV Eindhoven before making his debut.
That proved to be a wise decision, with Madueke quickly breaking into the Dutch first eleven. From the right wing, he scored nine goals in all competitions in each of the previous two seasons.
An ankle injury has hampered his progress for much of the current season, but it may also mean he’s available for less than he would have been otherwise.
According to the Times, Potter, Boehly, and others are thinking about leaving. Madueke has previously been linked with a return to his native England, and a deal could be struck for less than £13 million.
ARSENAL TARGET BID LODGED AT £18M
Arsenal must act decisively or risk losing long-term target Danilo to Nottingham Forest, according to a report.
Mudryk has taken up the vast majority of Arsenal headlines this month, despite the fact that a central midfield addition was frequently discussed not long ago. Youri Tielemans of Leicester and Danilo of Palmeiras are two names that are frequently mentioned.
Tielemans, on the other hand, is said to have priced himself out of a move after shocking Edu with his salary demands. Danilo, on the other hand, could be on his way to Nottingham Forest.
According to the Daily Telegraph, Steve Cooper’s side has made a £18 million bid to avoid relegation.
A conversation with Palmeiras has begun, and Forest are not the only club interested in a deal. The quoted £18m fee could be just the beginning, with add-ons pushing the total cost of the deal significantly higher.
Arsenal’s interest in the 21-year-old holding midfielder has reportedly ‘cooled’ recently. If they have any lingering interest, the time to strike is now, following Forest’s opening gambit.
ASTON VILLA, LEEDS UTD ON THE VERGE OF MAJOR DEALS
Finally, Leeds United and Aston Villa are nearing completion of their own signings, for a striker and a left-sided star, respectively.
Jesse Marsch’s team is nearing an agreement to sign Georginio Rutter from Hoffenheim.
According to Romano, the 20-year-old will cost’more than €30m’ (approx. £26.5m), and a medical will be scheduled soon.
Rutter has already agreed on personal terms, and unless there is late drama, Patrick Bamford and Rodrigo will face costly new competition.
Meanwhile, Villa have agreed to sign Real Betis veteran Alex Moreno.
Unai Emery, the manager, is well-versed in LaLiga and has chosen the 29-year-old left-sided star who can play anywhere up and down the flank.
Moreno has primarily played at left-back this season and is expected to cost around €14 million (
